HIGHLANDERS COMPLETE SWEEP, WIN 6TH STRAIGHT GAME

BOX SCORE RADFORD, Va. - Radford (25-17) continued its hottest streak of the season Sunday with a 10-2 victory in the series finale over Quinnipiac (15-21). The Highlanders have won six straight games and stand eight games over .500 for the first time this season. RU completes the three-game home sweep past the Bobcats and end the week 5-0 with a team batting average of .367 and having outscored its opponents 50-17.

Alexander Lee, who is batting .800 (16-20) in his last five games, opened the day with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. It was Lee's second round-tripper of the season as he finished the day 2-3 with three RBI. He leads the Big South Conference with a .416 batting average. Blake Sipe's run-scoring double in the second inning gave the Highlanders a 3-0 lead, and Michael Boyle would need no further help on the mound.

Boyle (3-3) worked 6.0 innings and gave up three hits and a run despite walking four Bobcat batters. Kyle Zurak, James Woods, and Oliver Powers closed out the game in relief. Zurak was the only reliever to surrender a hit and a run in 3.0 innings logged by the Highlander bullpen.

Four Highlanders registered two hits apiece. Lee, Sipe, Josh Reavis, and Patrick Marshall all collected a pair of hits, and Reavis, Marshall and Sipe each drove in two runs as well.

Brandon Shileikis (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season allowing five runs on six hits in 4.2 innings pitched. He walked four Highlanders and struck out two. The Bobcats managed just four hits on the afternoon. Ryan Nelson and Scott Donaghue each had a double. Donaghue and Brian Ruditys drove in a run apiece.

Radford remains at home Tuesday night for a New River matchup with Virginia Tech. First pitch at RU Baseball Stadium is set for 6:00 p.m.
