WILLIAMSON SETS 800-METER RECORD AT LIBERTY



RESULTS

LYNCHBURG, Va. –
Radford track and field concluded Saturday's action with a program record and numerous PRs at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational, which was hosted by the Flames at their Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex.
 
WOMEN'S 800-METER RUN
Teresa Williamson delivered the seventh program record of her career, including her third of the outdoor season when she stopped the watch at 2:10.86. In addition to winning the race, Williamson improved the Radford record by two seconds and her PR by three seconds. The junior continues to rank first in the Big South for the event. Madeline Thomas also ran, finishing 20th with a personal-best 2:31.44.
 
MEN'S 4x100-METER RELAY
The quartet of Cory Dunn, Steven Graham, Vincent Wyatt and Joseph Betts finished second with Radford's season-best effort in the event (42.19). With today's time, the Highlanders move up to fifth in the Big South rankings.
 
WOMEN'S 4x100-METER RELAY
Kaleice Green, Danyelle McDaniel, Reanna Hamm and Lakei Crews tied for the eighth-fastest relay in program history, clocking a 48.24 to place fourth.
 
MEN'S 1,500-METER RUN
Ryan Farnan (3:59.22) and Joey Hannah (4:05.37) established PRs to finish third and sixth, respectively.
 
WOMEN'S 1,500-METER RUN
Malina Richardson (4:55.86) and Thomas (5:01.32 – PR) crossed the line in fifth and eighth, respectively.
 
MEN'S 100-METER DASH
In his first competition of the outdoor season, Joseph Betts clocked a 10.97 to take third. Also running in the event was Vincent Wyatt, who stopped the watch in 11.08 (PR) to claim sixth.
 
WOMEN'S 100-METER DASH
Crews sprinted the distance in 12.55 to place 10th out of 28 runners.
 
WOMEN'S 100-METER HURDLES
Jessica Shelton reached the finish line in 14.67 to capture runner-up honors.
 
MEN'S 800-METER RUN
A trio of PRs were set in this event, led by Chaz Porter's 1:55.31. Following Porter's second-place showing was Chris Weeks (1:59.12 – 10th) and Graham Schlickenmeyer (2:02.96 – 16th).
 
MEN'S POLE VAULT
Josiah Brunson and Coy Seneff tied for ninth with a 13-03.50 clearance, which is a season-best mark for both.
 
WOMEN'S SHOT PUT
Jazmine Banks placed ninth with her season-best mark of 42-00.50. She climbs to seventh in the Big South standings for the event.
 
MEN'S HIGH JUMP
Kenneth Jordan set a PR with his 6-00.50 clearance to take 11th.
 
UP NEXT
Radford will prepare for the 2014 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are scheduled for April 17-19 at the Irwin Belk Track Complex in Rock Hill, S.C.
