RADFORD OPENS TOURNAMENT PLAY TUESDAY VS. PANTHERS

Radford opens its quest for a Big South Conference baseball championship run Tuesday night as the No. 5 seed and will face the No. 4 seed, High Point, in the first round. Game time is set for 9:00 p.m. in the fourth and final game of day one of the tournament from Winthrop Ballpark in Rock Hill, S.C.

The Highlanders (32-21, 17-10) took two of three games from the Panthers (31-20, 18-9) in High Point, N.C. during the regular season. High Point will start John McGillicuddy who recorded a no-decision against RU in his Friday night start during the regular season.

Michael Boyle will get the start for Radford on the mound. Boyle earned a win at High Point this season on May 3. He went 7.0 innings giving up four hits and one earned run. The Highlanders won the middle game of the series, 3-1, after falling in the opening game, 10-8. RU went on to win the series finale, 8-3. Radford has won five straight games that Boyle has started and is 9-5 in the 14 games Boyle has started on the season.

High Point leads the all-time series 26-23 against Radford. The Panthers are 3-0 all-time in Big South Tournament play against RU. Radford is 13-32 all-time in 16 previous conference tournaments.
