BOYLE AND MEISINGER SHUT DOWN HIGH POINT, RADFORD EVENS SERIES

BOX SCORE HIGH POINT, N.C. - Michael Boyle (4-3) went seven strong innings, and Ryan Meisinger struck out four in a two-inning save as Radford (26-19, 11-9) evened its series with High Point (25-17, 12-8) on Saturday night with a 3-1 win. The pitching duo combined for a four-hitter to gain a game on the Panthers in the Big South North Division standings.

Offensively, Radford was led by Chris Coia, who had two of RU's three hits on the night. With one out in the third, Coia single-handedly gave the Highlanders the lead. His bunt single set up a steal of second and on that steal, the ball was thrown into centerfield. Coia never stopped running scoring the game's first run on the play.

In the fifth, Coia led off with a single and stole both second and third. The steal of third was part of a double steal with Josh Reavis, who had  walked with one out. Patrick Marshall drove in a run with a bases-loaded, and Hunter Higgerson's sac fly gave RU a 3-0 lead. Reavis collected the only other base hit of the night for RU in the first.

The only blemish on Boyle's stat line of the night was a solo home run to Spencer Angelis in the seventh. He walked just one and struck out two on the night. Meisinger only allowed a base runner who reached on a wild pitch when swinging at strike three.

The rubber game of the series is scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
