WYATT ADVANCES TO QUARTERFINALS OF NCAA EAST REGIONAL

RESULTS

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Radford hurdler Vincent Wyatt clocked a 13.75 Friday evening to win heat three and advance to tomorrow's quarterfinals of the men's 110-meter hurdles at the 2014 NCAA East Preliminary Round contested at North Florida's Hodges Stadium.

Entering the first round as the fifth seed, Wyatt's performance secured fourth place in the overall standings. He edged South Carolina's Jermaine Collier by .001 of a second. Florida's Eddie Lovett reached the finish line in 13.43 to lead all qualifiers.

In all, 48 entrants competed in six heats. The top-three times in each heat, in addition to the next six best times, moved on to Saturday's quarterfinals.

Wyatt is making his second appearance at the regional championship meet, which determines the qualifiers for the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held June 11-14 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

There will be eight hurdlers in each of the three heats for Saturday's quarterfinals, which are scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. The top-three times in each heat, in addition to the next three best times, qualify for nationals.

If Wyatt advances, he will become the seventh Highlander on the men's side to make the trip to Eugene for the outdoor national championships in program history and first since 2011.
