HIGHLANDERS EDGED BY MIAMI IN EXHIBITION

RADFORD, Va.  – Radford women's soccer was edged on a late Miami (Ohio) goal and fell to the RedHawks, 1-0 in its preseason opener on Wednesday evening from Dedmon Center Field.

"It was good to see a lot of players tonight get some minutes against a quality opponent like Miami," said head coach Ben Sohrabi.

In a contest that featured three 30-minute periods, Miami's Rachel Marble knocked in a near post service by Chloe Knue in the 86th minute for the match's lone goal.

Freshman Maddie Malueg paced a trio of RU goalkeepers with four saves. Freshman Katie McCormick and sophomore Sydney Chervenic recorded three and two saves, respectively, as each keeper played one period.

Five Highlanders generated one shot with freshmen Julia Liguori and Gabby Brannon putting their attempts on frame.

"We definitely have some things to work on, but we put some good possessions together tonight," commented Sohrabi.

Radford hosts William & Mary on Saturday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. in its final exhibition before opening the regular season at ETSU on Friday, August 22.
