HARD FOUGHT EXHIBITION ENDS WITH DUKE 3-0 ADVANTAGE

DURHAM, N.C. - The Radford men's soccer team debuted on the pitch for the first time in the 2014 season Tuesday night at Duke. The Blue Devils tallied a 3-0 edge over the Highlanders in exhibition play at Koskinen Stadium. The hosts scored goals in the 37th, 56th, and 90th as the teams played a total of 110 minutes of action.

"This was a good first run out for our group against a quality team," RU head coach Marc Reeves said. "It helped highlight where we must improve and showed that just a few plays make all the difference."

"We looked to build our game fitness and ensured we controlled our players' minutes.  With the additional 20 minutes the staff got to see just about everyone for a solid amount of time."

Duke outshot the Highlanders 17-7, but managed just six shots on frame against a stingy RU defense.

"As always there was a range of how players performed individually, but the most important aspect is we evaluate and improve as a group," Reeves concluded.

Radford is in exhibition action again Saturday at Marshall for a 5:00 p.m. start.
