WOMEN'S SOCCER HOSTS SOUTHERN VIRGINIA AND ODU THIS WEEKEND

Radford women's soccer returns home this weekend for a two-game homestand against Southern Virginia and Old Dominion. The Highlanders host the Knights on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and the Monarchs on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: Radford is coming off a 0-1-1 road trip in which it tied Howard, 1-1 on Sept. 7 and dropped a 3-0 decision at Towson on Sept. 9… Senior Kara Wade scored the Highlanders' lone goal and freshman Katie McCormick made 13 saves against the Bison… Freshman McKensey Ziegler and redshirt-sophomore Hannah Thomas assisted on Wade's goal… RU generated a season-high 19 shots against the Tigers, but could not find the back of the net as Towson's keeper made seven saves and a late attempt by junior Asyia Mitchell to get the RU within one goal caromed off the post.

A LOOK AT YOUR HIGHLANDERS: Wade's strike was her first of the season and 10th of her career… Ziegler's assist was the first of her collegiate career… Thomas' helper was her first as a Highlander and second of her career… McCormick's 13 saves were the most by a RU goalkeeper since Lisa Lubke notched 13 versus High Point at the 2009 Big South Tournament… Wade and freshman Tori Donahue lead the Highlanders with nine shots.

THE KNIGHTS: Southern Virginia (1-2-2) is coming off its first win of the season, a 5-0 triumph at Randolph College on Sept. 9… Knights leading goal scorer, Tatiana Monsen, recorded her first collegiate hat trick against the Wildcats bringing her season total to five goals and 11 points… Makenzie Cox and Autum Cox have combined for 30 saves, a 1.29 GAA and a .811 save percentage.

THE SERIES (SVU): The Highlanders have won all four matches in a series that began in 2010… Following a 6-0 victory last season, RU has outscored SVU, 31-0.

THE MONARCHS: ODU (0-3-2) was defeated at Penn, 3-2, in overtime on Sept. 7… It was the fourth consecutive OT contest for the Monarchs… Old Dominion is 0-1-1 against the Big South this season, falling to Liberty, 1-0 and tying Campbell, 1-1… Jessie Klamut has scored two of ODU's four goals… The goalkeeper tandem of Meredith Lenox and Erin Kinz have a posted a 1.25 GAA with 16 saves in 501:29.

THE SERIES (ODU): Meeting for the 16th consecutive season, Radford had defeated ODU the last two years, including a 3-1 victory (box score) at Cupp Stadium on Aug. 31, 2012… The Monarchs own a 12-3-1 advantage in the series, but RU has won three of the last six.
