RADFORD REBOUNDS WITH SWEEP OF GEORGIA STATE

BOONE, N.C. – Jena Braden tallied her fourth straight double-double to lead the Radford volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-20) triumph over Georgia State Saturday evening to wrap up the Black and Gold Challenge hosted by Appalachian State inside the Holmes Center.
 
Braden finished with 34 assists and 10 digs for RU, which improved to 8-3 on the season. Rachel Wiechecki was the only Highlander to record double-figure kills, knocking down 11 in the three-set affair. Kelby Jackson led the defensive efforts with a match-high 13 digs, while Savannah Cantrell posted a team-best four blocks.
 
Radford hit .226 for the match and held advantages in kills (40-38), digs (48-47) and aces (5-4). The Panthers (2-8) were held to a .132 attack clip.
 
Pacing the Georgia State attack were Deidra Bohannon and Eliza Zachary, who charted 12 kills each. Natalia Nieto and Gabby Serafin registered 10 digs apiece. In addition to her dig total, Nieto passed out 32 assists for a double-double.
 
The Highlanders are back in action next weekend at Virginia Tech's Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. RU joins the Hokies, Marshall and UNC Wilmington at the two-day event that begins Friday at 4:30 p.m. inside Cassell Coliseum.
