
MEN’S GOLF CLAIMS FOURTH AT JANNEY VCU SHOOTOUT

MANAKIN-SABOT, Va. – Two Radford men's golfers posted top-10 performances to lead the Highlanders to a fourth-place showing following Tuesday's final round of the Janney VCU Shootout hosted by the Rams at the par 72, 6,955-yard Hermitage Country Club.
Radford finished the 54-hole tournament at 882 (292-298-292), two strokes ahead of tournament host VCU. Virginia Tech successfully defended its title on the strength of its 2-under 286 in the final round. The Hokies' 865 (287-292-286) was six swings clear of Iowa State. With the victory, Tech became the first program to win the tournament three times.
Conner Hayden, who led the field through 18 holes, notched his second career top-5 finish by signing for an even-par 216 (69-74-73). The junior logged 10 birdies over his 54 holes to take fifth place on the individual leaderboard.
Right behind him and the biggest mover for the Highlanders in the final round was Ryan Rettberg. The Front Royal, Va., native climbed 13 spots to sixth place on the strength of his 3-under 69 in the final round.
Nick Voke of Iowa State claimed medalist honors by finishing the two-day event at 3-under 213 (74-68-71). He edged Maclain Huge of Virginia Tech by one stroke.
On deck for Radford is a trip to Camden, S.C. for the Camden Collegiate Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be held Oct. 18-19 at Camden Country Club and hosted by the University of South Carolina.
