|

LIVE STATS • The Radford (2-2-2) men's soccer team faces its final opponent Wednesday night at Appalachian State (2-3-1) before heading to Big South Conference play this weekend. The Highlanders and the Mountaineers will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Appalachian Field at the Mackorell Soccer Complex in Boone, N.C.

9366"Appalachian State is yet another tough road test for our group," Radford head coach Marc Reeves said. "We are focused on what we need to do to be successful."

Radford leads the all-time series 8-7-1 and has won four straight in the series, including a 4-2 victory at Cupp Stadium a year ago. App State last won in the series in 2007, 3-0 in Boone.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
ASU boasts a pair of back-to-back shutout victories vs. Presbyterian (4-0) and Marshall (2-0) coming into Wednesday's contest. The Mountaineers had dropped three straight (Vermont, Navy, UMBC) prior to those games after opening the season with a draw with Albany. In their only other home game, they defeated fellow Big South member, Presbyterian. Stanley Broaden has scored three goals on the season and leads the team with six points. Paul West owns a 1.84 goals against average logging all but 23 minutes in goal through six games.

THE HIGHLANDERS
Radford owns the Big South's longest unbeaten streak at four games (2-0-2) after tying Elon 1-1 in the home opener for the Highlanders on Saturday. Krzysztof Nalborski tallied his first career goal vs. the Phoenix, while the Highlanders are led by Chel Ho Park Kim (1g, 2a) and Stephen Hudgens (2g) with four points apiece. Aitor Pouseu Blanco leads the Big South Conference in goals against average at 0.93. The Radford defensive back did not allow a shot on goal in 178 minutes stretching over four halves and two overtimes of soccer vs. Western Illinois, Incarnate Word, and Elon.

"Our preparation has been crucial to the results we have gotten so far," Reeves said. "A midweek game means taking in information quickly and having everyone involved fully ready. As we go to three games a week, our depth will be even more vital."
