ANOTHER TOUGH ROAD TEST FOR MEN'S SOCCER SATURDAY AT ETSU

|

LIVE STATS • Radford travels Saturday to Johnson City, Tenn. to face an East Tennessee State team in its home opener at Summers-Taylor Stadium. The two teams have each played a pair of one-goal games to begin the season, but while RU finished with tough road losses at Clemson (1-0) and Charlotte (2-1), ETSU edged victories over William & Mary (3-2) and VCU (2-1). Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Saturday's game will be the third straight NCAA Tournament team from 2013 that the Highlanders have opened the season with road tests. The Bucanneers are the defending Atlantic Sun Conference champions and lost in last year's NCAA first round to Big South champion, Coastal Carolina. ETSU finished the season 10-6-4 a year ago, including a scoreless tie at Cupp Stadium against Radford. In that game, RU outshot the Bucs 23-12 and 7-3 on goal, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.

Radford leads the all-time series with ETSU, 3-2-2.

SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS
ETSU is led on the offensive end by one of the early top goal scorers in the country this season. Joao Ramalho has four goals in two games and earned national accolades in the opening weekend of the season. Statistically, the Bucs have been outplayed in their two games, but have found a way to win each. Opponents hold advantages in shots (33-16), shots on goal (12-10), and corner kicks (20-3). Daniel Adelman has posted two wins in goal making nine saves and giving up three scores on the season.

"ETSU is off to a great start with two very good wins against strong opponents. As always we will prepare to perform well and expect our group to be determined to get a first win of the season."

THE HIGHLANDERS
Radford will look to rebound from a pair of gut-wrenching games last weekend to open the season against perennial powers. The Highlanders have been solid defensively allowing just 10 shots on frame in the first two contests. Aitor Pouseu Blanco has turned away seven shots and has recorded a 1.50 goals against average. Mauricio Rancel scored his first career goal at Charlotte to lead the offense.

Reeves said he expects his team to bounce back after the tough start to the season, "The season is still in its early stages with plenty more twists and turns to come. We expect our group to be emotionally stable and concentrated on maximizing our potential in every game."
