- The Radford women's basketball team gets its 45th season underway Friday night when the Highlanders host George Mason of the Atlantic 10 Conference for a 7 p.m. non-conference showdown inside the Dedmon Center.
- Series: Radford leads, 12-3

- The Highlanders are 1-1 in season openers under head coach Mike McGuire.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- 2014-15 Record: 17-14
- The Highlanders are looking to build upon their success from the 2014-15 season, which ended with the program's third WNIT appearance.
- RU, which tied for second in the Big South regular-season standings, won a single-season program record 14 conference games a year ago.
- There was a stretch during last season where the Highlanders won 12 of 14 league contests.
- Senior point guard Aisha Foy will look to steer Radford into year three under Coach McGuire. Foy was named to the Big South preseason all-conference first team.
- In addition to Foy, the Highlanders return all-freshman team selections Janayla White and Jayda Worthy.
- RU also welcomes five impact newcomers: Jen Falconer, Destinee Walker, Lydia Rivers, Alexis Jackson and Sydney Nunley.
- Radford posted a 10-5 record inside the Dedmon Center last season
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
- 2014-15 Record: 13-17
- The Patriots return seven letterwinners from their 2014-15 campaign where they finished 12th in the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season standings.
- George Mason's lineup will be bolstered by the addition of four transfers (who sat out the 2014-15 season) and two newcomers.
- The Patriots were picked to finish 11th out of 14 teams in the A-10 preseason coaches' poll.
- Mason is led by A-10 preseason all-conference first team selection Taylor Brown. In her junior campaign, she set the Patriots' single-season scoring record with 643 points.
- Brown finished the season ranking first in the A-10 and 13th nationally in scoring at 21.4 points per game.
- The 2015-16 campaign marks the third year at Mason for head coach Nyla Milleson and the third year the Patriots have been members of the A-10.
- Mason lost its final five games last season, including a 71-43 loss to Saint Joseph's in the second round of the A-10 Tournament.
- The Patriots are down in Southwest Virginia for a two-game swing this weekend. After taking on RU, Mason makes the short trek to Blacksburg for Sunday's 5 p.m. in-state tilt at Virginia Tech.
UP NEXT
- Radford heads to Raleigh, N.C., to face NC State, Tuesday, Nov. 17. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. from PNC Arena.
- It will be the first of two meetings between the Highlanders and a team from the ACC in 2015-16.
- RU played three ACC foes each of the last two seasons.
