WOMEN'S LACROSSE RELEASES SCHEDULE FOR INAUGURAL SEASON

RADFORD, Va. – Radford women's lacrosse is gearing up for its inaugural season and now the team knows who its first opponents are as head coach Haley Marvine announced the 2016 schedule Friday afternoon.

The 15-game schedule will begin on Saturday, February 20 as the Highlanders travel to Saint Francis (PA) for their first-ever game.

"Our team is excited to take on the challenge of our inaugural season. I believe our schedule has a great mix of teams and competition, and I can't wait to see our team rise to the occasion," said Marvine.

RU will play its home games at Cupp Stadium on the campus of Radford University. The Highlanders' home opener will be played on Thursday, February 25 against New River Valley foe Virginia Tech. The rest of the non-conference schedule features games against Delaware State, Howard, Stetson, Detroit and Kennesaw State for a total of seven non-conference games before Big South play begins.

Big South action commences on Saturday, March 26 with a home game against Winthrop. The Highlanders will then hit the road for two games as they take on Gardner-Webb and Campbell. RU will return home on April 9 for a game with Presbyterian before hitting the road twice at Longwood and High Point.

The Highlanders will wrap up their first regular season with two home dates: April 20 vs. Liberty and April 23 vs. Coastal Carolina.

"We are very fortunate and excited to be a part of the Big South Conference, which is home to some of the most successful and respected new lacrosse programs in the country. We aim to prove ourselves worthy of their company," said Marvine.
