
MEN’S GOLF IN FIFTH AT WEXFORD INTERCOLLEGIATE

ROUNDS 1-2
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Led by two under-par rounds by Conner Hayden and Ryan Rettberg, the Radford men's golf team is in fifth place following Monday's action in the Wexford Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion at the par 72, 6,913-yard Wexford Plantation.
Play was suspended during the second round due to darkness with most teams having three holes to play. Wofford leads the 19-team field at 3-over-par. Seven strokes behind is second-place USC Aiken. The Pacers, who are currently 7-under-par in their second round, are the fourth-ranked Division II team in the nation.
Charleston Southern and 46th-ranked Georgia Southern are tied for third, four shots ahead of the Highlanders. Radford opened with an 8-over-par 296 in Monday morning's first round. RU is ahead of three top-100 golf programs on the team leaderboard.
Hayden and Rettberg recorded their fifth and fourth sub-par rounds of the season, respectively, by returning a pair of 2-under-par 70s to the clubhouse for the first round. Hayden is tied for eighth at 1-over-par with three holes to play in his second round, while Rettberg is tied for 22nd at 5-over-par through 15 holes of his second round.
Tanner Carbaugh (+7), Callum Cochrane (+10) and Nick Brediger (+12) round out the Highlanders' lineup. On the strength of three birdies, Cochrane has a team-best even-par round going for his second 18 with three holes to go.
J.T. Poston of Western Carolina has the overnight lead on the individual leaderboard at 3-under-par, one shot clear of USC Aiken's Axel Ostensson.
The remainder of the second round will commence with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday, with the final round to follow immediately.
