
MEN’S GOLF CAPTURES TEAM TITLE FOLLOWING THREE-HOLE PLAYOFF IN WILLIAMSBURG

ROUND 3
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Radford men's golf team outlasted Loyola (Md.) in a three-hole playoff Tuesday evening to hoist its second team title in three seasons at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary at the par 70, 6,765-yard Kingsmill Resort River Course.
RU and Loyola (Md.) finished the 54-hole tournament tied at 859. The Highlanders were able to force a playoff on the strength of a final-round 282. Missouri took third at 865, followed by Maryland (867) and Penn State (868). Radford finished ahead of four Top-100 golf programs to notch its sixth Top 5 of the season.
Four of the five Highlanders finished inside the Top 25 on the individual leaderboard. Heading the list was Tanner Carbaugh, who tied for seventh at 213 (70-73-70). It was Carbaugh's first Top 10 of the season. Conner Hayden was three strokes behind at 216 (68-77-71) to tie for 17th.
Ryan Rettberg and Nick Brediger tied for 21st at 217. Brediger's 1-under-par 69 paced the Highlanders in the final round. He was one of 13 individuals in the 159-golfer field to shoot in red figures over his final 18 holes. Myles Creighton concluded in a tie for 36th at 220 (74-73-73).
Matt Oshrine of Loyola (Md.) claimed medalist honors behind his 2-under-par 208 (70-72-66). Patrick Flavin of Miami (Ohio) and Brandon Matthews of Temple finished two strokes back at even-par 210.
RU will compete in the Liberty Invitational (Apr. 10-11) in Amherst, Va. The Flames will host the tournament at Poplar Grove Golf Club.
