TOP-SEEDED RADFORD FACES WINTHROP FOR TITLE GAME BERTH

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - After earning a day off with its quarterfinal victory Wednesday over High Point, top-seeded No. 23 Radford meets Winthrop in the first game of the day Friday with a Big South Tournament Championship Game entry in the balance for the Highlanders. The Eagles survived Thursday with a 2-1 win over Campbell to advance in the consolation bracket.

The Highlanders will have two chances, if needed, to defeat the Eagles and advance to their first conference title game since 1993. Radford is riding a school record 13-game winning streak heading into Friday's contest. Winthrop is the league's only other 40-win team on the season. Coastal Carolina and High Point represent the other bracket in the semifinals. Like Radford, Coastal will have two opportunities, if needed on Friday, to advance to the championship game.

If Winthrop were to defeat Radford in the first game, the two teams will meet at 5:00 p.m. in a scheduled seven-inning game to decide the championship game bid.

The two teams met earlier this season with Radford winning the series 2-1. The Eagles avoided the sweep in game three after the Highlanders had taken the first two contests.
