Nationally ranked and tied atop the Big South standings, No. 25 Radford plays host to Charleston Southern for a three-game series beginning Friday at RU Baseball Stadium. The final home stand of the season features Senior Day on Saturday honoring seven Highlanders (Josh Gardiner, Hunter Higgerson, Brad Keen, Patrick Marshall, Jeff Maxwell, Josh Reavis, and Aaron Scoville).
Radford alumnus and ESPN talent, Marty Smith, will throw out Friday's first pitch prior to the 7:00 start.
SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS • Current Stats
Charleston Southern is 9-4 in its last 13 games and owns a current two-game winning streak heading into the series. The Buccaneers defeated Furman, 8-6, in 11 innings in their midweek contest on Wednesday. The Bucs also own a 9-7 mark on the road this season and swept Campbell last month in their last Big South road series.
Bryan Dye (.345) and Nate Blanchard (.340) lead the CSU offensive attack. Chase Shelton has driven in a team-high 31 runs. On the mound, all three weekend starters boast sub-3.00 ERAs. As a team the Bucs are hitting .285 and average just over five runs per game. The pitching staff owns a 4.74 combined ERA.

Patrick Marshall is the reigning Big South Player of the Week and leads the league with 50 RBI. He has a team-high nine home runs. Hunter Higgerson leads the Big South in doubles with 22 and is tied for second in the league behind Marshall with 41 RBI. The Highlanders will be without the services of leading hitter Josh Gardiner (.368), who continues to mend from a ball fouled off on his left knee. On the mound, Boyle is 5-0 in his last seven starts, all Radford wins. Nelson is 5-1 in his last eight starts for the Highlanders, and Ryan Meisinger leads the Big South with 12 saves.
