HIGHLANDERS CAP OFF HOMESTAND VS. PRESBYTERIAN SATURDAY NIGHT

Live Stats

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team will look to bounce back from Wednesday's tough double overtime defeat when it plays host to Presbyterian Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Cupp Stadium.

The Highlanders came on strong offensively against Liberty in the second half and first overtime, racking up 16 of their 19 shots as they battled back from a two-goal deficit and nearly won the match during extra time. McKensey Ziegler, Sammie Shiflette and Ana Revollo came off the sideline to combine for eight shot attempts, putting five on frame. Ziegler netted her first career goal to become the 11th different team member to find the back of the net and the 15th to record a point this season. Jasmine Casarez assisted on Ziegler's score before tallying the equalizer and upped her team-best shot total to 27. Asyia Mitchell is second with 24.

Scouting Presbyterian: Presbyterian (4-5) also dropped its Big South Conference opener on Wednesday, falling to Coastal Carolina 3-1… The Blue Hose have scored 21 goals on the season, but 10 of them came against first-year program Hampton… Freshman Stephanie Lee leads the team with eight points (three goals, two assists), while seniors Sophie Cobb and Hannah Gaither have also scored three goals apiece… Senior Sydney Fontenot has played the large majority of minutes in goal, making 28 saves with a 1.22 GAA in seven games… PC played two common opponents with Radford in nonconference play, defeating USC Upstate 3-1 and losing to VMI 1-0 in overtime.

Series History: RU is 6-1-1 all-time against the Blue Hose and 3-0-1 at Cupp Stadium… The Highlanders have won six straight meetings, with five of them coming on shutouts… The last two matchups were 1-0 decisions in double overtime… Jordan Lundin won the game last year on a penalty kick in the 103rd minute.

Up Next: Radford heads out on the road for its next three matches, beginning with a mid-week afternoon matchup at Charleston Southern on Wednesday.
