RADFORD WOMEN BEGIN ROAD STRETCH AT CHARLESTON SO. WEDNESDAY

Live Stats | Live Video

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team plays the first of three straight road matches on Wednesday as it travels to Charleston Southern for a 3 p.m. kickoff.

Following a pair of one-goal setbacks last week, the Highlanders (5-5, 0-2) will look to break through for their first Big South win. Offensively, they created chances in their first two conference games, totaling 43 shots, second-most of any team. For the season, RU now leads the conference in shots, averaging over 21 per game, while ranking third in goals and points. A total of 12 Highlanders have contributed to the goal total, while 17 have notched at least one point. Individually, senior Asyia Mitchell has taken over the team lead in shots (29), just ahead of freshman Jasmine Casarez (27). Freshmen Ana Revollo and Amanda Philip continue to pace the team with their three goals, while sophomore Jordan Lundin has a squad-best three assists. Defensively, Katie McCormick is fourth in the league with 43 saves.

Scouting Charleston Southern: The Buccaneers (2-4-2, 0-2) are also in search of their first conference victory, having lost on the road to Campbell (1-0) and Liberty (2-0) last week… Junior forward Anna Sells has scored four of the team's eight goals and ranks fourth in the conference with 31 shots… Junior midfielder Erica Gazzani has added two goals and two assists… Three different CSU goalkeepers have started at least two games… Freshman Alyssa Dellacqua recorded 15 saves in the loss to Liberty last Saturday, while sophomore Liz Amanda Brown played all 90 minutes against Campbell and had six saves… Both of CSU's wins came on their homefield.

Series History: The teams are playing for the 29th time, with Radford holding a 17-6-5 all-time advantage… The Highlanders are 16-0-4 in the last 20 meetings dating back to 1999… Six of those games went to overtime, with RU winning four of them, including last year, 3-2.

Up Next: Radford will head back out on the road and play at Campbell Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
