WOMEN’S SOCCER HOSTS VMI FRIDAY NIGHT

Live Stats | Live Video

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team returns to action Friday night as it plays host to in-state and former Big South conference foe VMI for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Cupp Stadium.

The match concludes a stretch of four home games in its first five contests to begin the season. After that, the Highlanders (2-2) hit the road for two straight and don't play in the New River Valley again until September 18.

The team looks to return to the win column and give Ben Sohrabi his 200th victory as Radford's head coach on home turf. Through the first four games, six different Highlanders have registered goals, with Hannah Duff, Jane Everett and Jordan Lundin each having three points apiece. Jasmine Casarez continues to pace the team in shots with 16. On the defensive side, Katie McCormick totaled 15 saves in the last two games.

Scouting VMI: The Keydets are 1-2 on the season, with one-goal losses at home to Youngstown State and at Navy. The win came by a 16-0 score over a first-year Hampton program that played with 10 players… Sydnie Bligh and Kristen Whitehurst each scored all of their team-leading four goals in that game, while Sam Boney also had a hat trick… Of the team's 66 shots for the season, 56 of them came in that match.

History: This will be the 14th meeting between the teams, with Radford holding a 12-1 advantage. The Highlanders have won five straight, with the last four coming by shutout. They last surrendered a goal to the Keydets in 2010. Last year's meeting was a 1-0 decision as Kara Wade scored in the 57th minute.

Up Next: Radford plays its second road match of the season on Sunday afternoon as it travels to USC Upstate for a 2 p.m. game. The Spartans are 1-3-1 after a 1-0 loss at Furman on Thursday.
