MEN’S SOCCER SET FOR SATURDAY SHOWDOWN WITH ETSU

LIVE STATS  |  LIVE VIDEO

SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford opens the home portion of its 2015 schedule Saturday night when the Highlanders host East Tennessee State at 6 p.m. at Cupp Stadium.
  • The Highlanders escaped Johnson City, Tenn., last year with a 1-0 victory over ETSU. Jamie Summers delivered the game-winner in the 59th minute.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • RU is 2-0-0 for the first time since 2005 after going unbeaten at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott JMU Invitational last weekend.
  • Wins over Dayton and Iona have the Highlanders ranked ninth in the NSCAA South Region.
  • Two of Radford's three goals scored this season are by freshmen.
  • There are 23 underclassmen on the Highlanders' roster, which is tied for the second-youngest roster in all of Division I. ETSU also has 23 underclassmen. Tulsa carries 24 on its roster.
  • The ETSU game is the first of eight regular-season home contests for Radford.
  • Sivert Daehlie, Finn Tiedemann and Jamie Summers lead the Highlanders in points with two apiece.
  • Evan Szklennik has taken a team-best seven shots up top for RU.
  • Radford hasn't started its season 3-0-0 since 1994.

SCOUTING ETSU
  • Record: 1-1-0
  • After dropping a 3-1 decision to 11th-ranked Clemson, the Buccaneers leveled their season record with a 2-0 shutout of High Point.
  • ETSU took a 1-0 lead into halftime at Clemson before the Tigers rallied with three second-half goals.
  • Adegboyega "Bo" Oshoniyi is in his second season as head coach of the Bucs. He guided ETSU to a 7-10-1 overall record in 2014.
  • Redshirt junior Joao Ramalho is the top threat for the Bucs. The 2014 SoCon Player of the Year netted 11 goals last season and had the goal at Clemson last Friday.

UP NEXT
  • Radford remains at home for Tuesday's 6 p.m. kickoff against Howard.
