RADFORD TRAVELS TO NO. 21 VIRGINIA ON TUESDAY FOR A COMMONWEALTH CLASH

SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford will look to collect their first win over Virginia in the 12th meeting between the two Commonwealth foes.
  • In the last 25 years, the two in-state squads have only met twice.
  • The matchup is the first since Oct. 21, 2014. Virginia won the matchup 3-0.
  • The Highlanders are 3-1 on the road this season, while the Cavaliers have compiled a 4-0-3 home record.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 9-2-0, 3-0-0 Big South
  • Radford extended its winning streak to three with a 1-0 overtime victory over Presbyterian on Saturday. The Highlanders extended their winning streak to five over Liberty on Oct. 5 with a 2-1 win.
  • The three goals scored on the week for the Highlanders came from three different players. Evan Szklennik, Victor Valls and Kieran Roberts tallied goals; giving them two each on the season.
  • Nine different Highlanders have found the back of the net this season, including seven with two or more goals.
  • Radford owns a .413 shot on goal percentage with 59 on frame in 143 attempts.
  • Jo Vetle Rimstad collected his second Big South Defensive Player of the Week honor in 2016 and the third of his career.
  • Rimstad and the Radford defense limited Liberty and Presbyterian to just one goal on 13 shots – seven on frame.
  • For the season, Radford has allowed just eight goals, six fewer than any other team in the conference.
 
SCOUTING No. 21 VIRGINIA
  • Record: 6-2-3, 1-2-2 ACC
  • The Cavaliers are coming off a 2-1 comeback victory over No. 4 North Carolina on Friday. The win marked the first win over the Tar Heels since 2008.
  • In the match, Pablo Aguilar knotted the match in the 52nd minute, before Wesley Wade scored the game winner in the 78th minute.
  • The two second half goals were the 12th and 13th on the season for the Cavaliers. UVa has outscored opponents 13-4 in the second half.
  • Edward Opoku and Wade lead the Cavaliers with four goals each. Wade's four goals have come on only nine shots on goal.
  • Daniel Barir has assisted on four of the 20 goals scored on the season to lead the squad.
  • Virginia is 3-0-1 in their last four matches, outscoring opponents 7-1 during the span.
  • The Cavaliers have been strong at Klöckner Stadium this season, holding a 14-5 goal advantage.

  • Radford returns to Cupp Stadium on Saturday for a homecoming matchup with Winthrop. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
