RADFORD HOSTS CAMPBELL FOR KEY MATCH WEDNESDAY NIGHT

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team looks to rebound from its first Big South loss when it plays host to Campbell Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Cupp Stadium.

Despite the overtime setback at Gardner-Webb, the Highlanders (6-5, 4-1) remained in first place in the conference, with High Point also dropping a 1-0 decision to UNC Asheville on Saturday and falling to 3-1. Campbell sits just behind, tied with Gardner-Webb at 3-2 in league play.

Radford enters its second to last regular-season home match of the season carrying a four-game homefield shutout streak, having not allowed an opponent to find the back of a Cupp Stadium net in over 408 minutes of play since the Aug. 28 contest against Appalachian State. In the four games since, the Highlanders have surrendered a total of 15 shots on goal. RU has been stingy defensively against Big South opponents in general, still having not allowed a goal before the 80th minute in any match.

Offensively, Jasmine Casarez remains the conference leader with her seven goals and 0.64 per game average. She is now second with 15 total points, but still first with 1.36 per game. Her 11 points in league play are three more than any other player. Casarez and fellow sophomore Jessica Wollmann, who is second on the team three goals and eight points, have combined to put 27 of their 43 shots (63 percent) on frame.

Radford's strong defense will be tested by a Campbell attack that ranks at the top of the conference in most categories. In league matches, the Fighting Camels (8-6 overall) are first in shots per game (18.00), assists per game and points per game, while ranking second in goals per game (2.40).

Individually, senior Payton Ormsby holds the Big South lead with 17 points on five goals and seven assists. In conference play, she has two goals and a league-best four assists, with three of them coming in the team's 3-2 overtime win over Winthrop last Friday. Senior Christina Kindt scored two of those goals, including the game-winner, giving her five goals on the season, along with four assists. In its five league matches, Campbell has totaled 12 goals, while allowing 10. Freshman Natayla Marcove has logged every minute in goal this season, owning a 1.46 goals against average.

Last year, Campbell prevailed 3-2 in overtime for its first win in the teams' last six meetings. Radford is 4-0-1 all-time at home against the Camels.
