WOMEN’S SOCCER LOOKS TO BOUNCE BACK AT PRESBYTERIAN

Live Stats

RADFORD, Va. – After sustaining a pair of tough, overtime setbacks, the Radford women's soccer team will try to get back on the winning track Saturday when it travels to Presbyterian for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

With three games left on its schedule, Radford (6-6, 4-2) still has a share of first place in the Big South with Campbell and Gardner-Webb. Of the Highlanders' 12 matches this season, eight have been decided by one goal, including five of their six losses.

Despite the defeat Wednesday night, Radford will hope to build on a strong half performance in which it controlled play and recorded an 11-4 shots advantage over one of the conference's top offensive teams. With Jordan Lundin and Abby Gardner scoring their first goals, eight different players have found the back of the net on the season. Gardner has put seven of her 11 shot attempts on frame, one of four Highlanders with a SOG percentage at least .556.

Presbyterian (3-10, 1-4) is coming off of its first conference win on Wednesday, as it overcame an early 2-0 deficit to beat Charleston Southern 3-2, with all the goals being scored in the first half. Kristen Peagler had two of the tallies and leads the team with five goals and three assists for 13 points. In conference play, the Blue Hose are eighth in shots per game (11.60), seventh in goals per game (1.20) and last in goals allowed (3.40). All three of their home conference games have been one-goal decisions, including two 1-0 scores.

Each of the last three meetings between the teams have been one-goal games, with Presbyterian winning last year 2-1 on a tally in the 77th minute. Radford had won the previous six matchups.
