WOMEN’S SOCCER SET FOR CRITICAL SENIOR NIGHT MATCHUP

Live Stats | Live Video

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team will play host to High Point Saturday night for its regular-season finale, with the goal of making sure that it isn't the last game of the 2016 campaign at Cupp Stadium.

Radford (7-7, 5-3) enters the match in a three-way tie with Liberty and Campbell for third place in the Big South standings. Each team currently has 15 points, but both the Flames (5-2) and Fighting Camels (5-3) own tiebreakers over the Highlanders.

As a result, in order to earn a top-four seed in the conference tournament and host a quarterfinal, the Highlanders need at least a draw, and more than likely a better result than Campbell gets in its finale. The Camels travel to first-place Gardner-Webb Saturday night.

High Point (9-5-2, 5-1-1), meanwhile, enters the match two points out of first with two matches left to play. The Panthers are coming off victories over Charleston Southern (3-1) and Presbyterian (2-0), which followed a loss to UNC Asheville and a draw with Longwood. Forward Kelsey Perrell shares the league lead with eight goals and is tied for second with 18 points. She has five goals in conference play, even with Radford's Jasmine Casarez for the lead. As a team in Big South matches, High Point ranks third in both goals (1.86) and shots per game (16.00).

On the other end of the field, senior goalkeeper Alex Hank, last year's Defensive Player of the Year, has allowed just two goals in the seven conference matches, ranking first with a 0.28 goals against average and .909 save percentage. The Panthers have posted six shutouts, with four in league play.

Radford is 4-2 at home this season (2-1 in conference), has outscored its opponents 9-5 and tallied at least one goal in each contest. The Highlanders are averaging 15.2 shots per game at Cupp, while allowing 12.0. Overall in conference play, Radford stands fourth in both goals and points per game. In their last two matches after being shutout, the Highlanders responded with a combined seven goals.

The match will kick off shortly after 7 p.m., following Senior Night festitives honoring graduating members Miranda Carlson, Sydney Chervenic, Lexi Denny and Hannah Duff.
