FIRST-PLACE RADFORD HOSTS LONGWOOD WEDNESDAY

Live Stats | Live Video

RADFORD, Va. – Riding a three-match win streak and holding first place in the Big South, the Radford women's soccer team looks to keep it rolling when it plays host to in-state foe Longwood Wednesday afternoon at Cupp Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. as the opener of a doubleheader with the Highlander men.

The victory streak is the longest for the program since the 2014 squad won four straight matches as part of 3-0-1 conference start, which Radford (5-4, 3-0) can better by defeating Longwood (5-7, 2-1).

Reigning Big South Attacking Player of the Week Jasmine Casarez is on her own personal streak with goals in three straight games, totaling five in that span and conference-best seven for the season. She also shares the points lead with 14, and is first in both goals and points per game. The sophomore ranks 20th nationally in goals per game. The last RU player to score more than seven goals in a season was Sahar Aflaki, who had nine in 2011.

Casarez has had plenty of help, though, as seven of the team's nine Big South goals have been assisted, with a total of eight different different Highlanders counting helpers. For the season, Radford has 14 assists on its 14 goals, led by Lundin's four. Hannah Duff, Jessica Wollmann, Nicole Ray each have two. The nine conference goals are one shy of the team's total from all 10 matches last season and rank second in the league, along with their 26 combined points through three games.

Meanwhile, the Highlanders are coming off of their third straight home shutout and have not allowed a goal at Cupp in over 318 minutes of action, going back to the first half of the home opener against Appalachian State. RU has also now gone five consecutive contests without its opponent scoring in the first half. Radford's Big South-leading goals against average is now at 1.11, with Courtenay Kaplan ranked first individually, although the freshman did not have a busy game against Charleston Southern, with RU surrendering just two shots on goal.

Longwood enters the match in a four-way tie for third place in the conference, coming off of its own 2-0 home shutout, against Winthrop on Saturday. The Lancers also blanked Gardner-Webb 5-0 in their league opener before dropping a 2-1 decision at defending champion Liberty on a goal in the 75th minute.

Amanda Spencer leads the way offensively with three goals and two assists, while recording 27 shots, 18 on goal. Sydney Wallace has also found the net three times, while three others have two goals apiece. Longwood ranks second in the conference behind RU in goals against average (1.24), while Maria Kirby is first in save percentage (.821), totaling 64 stops in 12 games.

Longwood used a pair of first-half goals at home last year to win 2-0 and even the all-time series at 6-6-1. Radford went 2-0-1 in the first three meetings as Big South foes.
