RADFORD HOSTS LONGWOOD ON SUNDAY FOR BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

SETTING THE STAGE
  • Top-seeded Radford looks to capture its first Big South Tournament Championship since 2000 after advancing to its second championship game on penalty kicks (4-2) over Presbyterian, Wednesday night.
  • Radford collected a 1-0 win over the Lancers on Oct. 26. In the win, Fraser Colmer took the free kick, curving the ball to the left of the Lancers' wall. Colmer's free kick found a striding Kieran Roberts, who finished the pass to the near bottom corner past a diving a Carlos Canas.
  • The Highlanders now own a 14-8-3 all-time edge on the Lancers with victories in the last three matchups.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 14-3-1
  • With nine shutouts, the Highlanders need just one more to equal the program's single-season record of 10 set in 1991.
  • Aitor Pouseu Blanco now shares the Big South all-time record with 24 career shutouts.
  • Radford moved up to eighth in the NCAA with a 0.57 goals against average, while Pouseu Blanco climbed to eighth individually in save percentage (.847) and ninth in goals against (0.549).
  • Radford has been strong offensively of late, scoring eight goals by six different players in its last four matches. All but one of the tallies were set up by assists and it totaled nine helpers in all.
  • A late second half goal to send the semifinal matchup into overtime, Kieran Roberts tied Jakob Strandsäter for the team lead with five goals.
  • Strandsäter leads the Highlanders with 17 points, ranking eighth in the conference.
  • Evan Szklennik is second with 11 points on three goals and five assists.
  • A total of eight Highlanders have tallied multiple goals, with six contributing multiple assists.
  • The Highlanders outscored their opponents 14-5 at Cupp Stadium this season, surrendered just two goals to Big South foes at home and posted shutouts in the three out of the last four matchups.
 
SCOUTING LONGWOOD
  • Record: 8-11-1
  • Longwood advanced to its first ever Big South Tournament Championship match with a 1-0 upset win over No. 2 High Point in the semifinals.
  • The lone goal of the match came in the 42nd minute as Finnlay Wyatt's goal from the top of the box off Panther turnover. Wyatt fired a shot to the low right post.
  • Lancer goalkeeper Carlos Canas collected his third clean sheet of the season in the win, finishing with three saves.
  • Twelve different Lancers have tallied a goal on the season, including eight with multiple goals.
  • Of Longwood's 32 goals on the season, Dan Campos has assisted on 12 of them to lead the nation in assists.
  • Longwood is 3-8-1 away from home with two wins coming in the Big South tournament.

  • The winner will earn the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
