RADFORD HOSTS PRESBYTERIAN ON WEDNESDAY IN BIG SOUTH SEMIFINALS



MATCH INFORMATION  
SETTING THE STAGE
  • Top-seeded Radford looks advance to the Big South Tournament championship match for the second time in three years as it hosts No. 5 Presbyterian in a semifinal contest.
  • The regular-season meeting between the teams was scoreless into overtime before Kieran Roberts tallied the game-winner in the 93rd minute.
  • The Highlanders now own a 12-4-3 all-time edge on the Blue Hose, with victories in the last five matchups.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 13-3-1
  • With nine shutouts, the Highlanders need just one more to equal the program's single-season record of 10 set in 1991.
  • Aitor Pouseu Blanco now shares the Big South all-time record with 24 career shutouts.
  • Radford moved up to eighth in the NCAA with a 0.57 goals against average, while Pouseu Blanco climbed to eighth individually in save percentage (.847) and ninth in goals against (0.549).
  • Radford finished strong offensively, scoring six goals by five different players in its last two matches. All but one of the tallies were set up by assists and it totaled eight helpers in all.
  • Jakob Strandsäter scored two goals in the regular-season finale to take over the team lead with five, along with six assists for 16 points, tied for sixth in the conference.
  • Evan Szklennik is second with 11 points on three goals and five assists.
  • A total of eight Highlanders have tallied multiple goals, with six contributing multiple assists.
  • The Highlanders outscored their opponents 13-4 at Cupp Stadium this season, surrendered just one goal to a Big South foe at home and posted shutouts in the last three contests.
  • In the 1-0 home win over Presbyterian on Oct. 8, Radford held an 11-6 shots edge and 10-1 corner kicks advantage.
 
SCOUTING PRESBYTERIAN
  • Record: 7-10-2
  • Presbyterian advanced with a 2-1 road win at No. 4 Liberty on Sunday, tallying the final two goals, including the game-winner in the 80th minute by Bruce Olivier, his first of the season.
  • Mason Lewis assisted on the goal with a throw-in and leads the team with seven goals and four helpers on the year for 18 points, fifth in the Big South.
  • Crow Cade and Sergio Pinto combined for the other goal and are second and third on the team in points. Cade has five goals and four assists, with Pinto totaling four goals and three assists.
  • The Blue Hose had ended the regular season with three straight losses.
  • Presbyterian has played eight overtime matches this year, posting a 2-4-2 record. Eight of its losses overall were by one goal.
  • The victory over Liberty was the Blue Hose's first Big South Tournament win, coming in just its second appearance.
 
UP NEXT
  • The winner faces either No. 2 High Point or No. 6 Longwood on Sunday for the title and an automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
  • Radford would host the match if it advances.
