RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team plays its first game of the season inside Cupp Stadium Sunday night as it welcomes Appalachian State for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Highlanders will look to build on a solid performance in their first game, a 1-0 setback to a strong East Tennessee State team in a match that was decided on a set piece in the first half.

Appalachian State (2-1), meanwhile, will be playing its fourth game of the season, and coming off of a 2-0 loss at High Point Friday night. The Mountaineers posted victories over Northern Kentucky (3-1) and Davidson (1-0) in their first two contests.

Redshirt sophomore forward Erin Settle, who missed last season with an injury, scored a goal in each of the team's wins, while senior forward Jane Cline, who led the way in goal and points last year, has one marker and an assist so far in 2016. Junior goalkeeper Sam Steyl has totaled 15 saves over the three games, including seven against High Point.

The teams are meeting for the third straight season, with Radford having won the previous two to take a 6-4 lead in the all-time series. Hannah Duff tallied a first-half goal in a 1-0 road victory last year, while the Highlander defense withstood 19 Appalachian shots to get the clean sheet.
