RADFORD AND JMU MEET FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2002



SETTING THE STAGE
  • No. 20 Radford looks for its sixth win on the season as the Highlanders travel up Interstate 81 to take on Commonwealth foe James Madison in a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup on Wednesday at Sentara Park.
  • The Highlanders and Dukes last met on Oct. 17, 2002 inside Cupp Stadium. James Madison collected a 3-2 victory.
  • James Madison has a 5-3-3 advantage in the all-time series.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 5-1-0
  • After collecting a thrilling 2-1 double overtime win over Elon on Sept. 17, Radford moved up four spots to 20th in the latest NSCAA Coaches' Poll.
  • The two RU goals came from Michael Walsh and Sivert Daehlie.
  • Daehlie collected the game winning goal, giving him his third game winner of the 2016 season.
  • The Highlander defense has only allowed four goals in 553:41 of action.
  • Aitor Pouseu Blanco finished with a season-high eight saves in the win over Elon, giving him 20 on the season and 117 in his career.
  • Radford is 7-3-0 versus Commonwealth foes since 2013.
               
SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
  • Record: 0-6-1
  • After dropping three 1-0 matches, James Madison is still seeking their first win of the season
  • The only non-loss for the Dukes came in a 1-1 draw with Georgia Southern on Sept. 9.
  • James Madison has tallied four goals on the season off the boots of Coward Connor, Aaron Ward-Baptiste, Drew Mahoney and Toby Appleton.
  • Billy Metzler leads the Dukes in assists with two.
  • The Dukes' defense has allowed 12 goals through the first seven matches to start the season.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Highlanders will play host to former Big South foe Coastal Carolina on Saturday for a 6 p.m. matchup. Radford and No. 10 Coastal Carolina drew a 0-0 result in their last meeting on Oct. 31, 2015.
