SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford and Coastal Carolina meet in the first matchup between the two former Big South foes since the Chanticleers joined the Sun Belt on July 1.
  • In the last meeting, the Highlanders earned a 0-0 Halloween draw with the No. 10 Chanticleers in 2015.
  • Coastal Carolina holds a slight 22-21-8 edge in the all-time series.
  • The match will serve as the Highlanders' ovarian cancer awareness match. Fans can make donations through the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 6-1-0
  • The Highlanders picked up a 3-1 victory over James Madison on Wednesday night in the first matchup between the two Commonwealth foes since 2002.
  • In the match, RU fell behind early, before scoring three late second half goals. Sivert Daehlie knotted the match at one on a penalty kick, before Victor Valls collected his first collegiate goal to give the Highlanders the lead.
  • Jakob Strandsäter made sure the Highlanders would not be heading to their second consecutive overtime match as his second goal of the year capped off Radford's comeback victory.
  • Daehlie picked up his first non-game winning goal of the season in the match. The goal came on his first penalty kick of the season.
  • The sophomore ranks tied for third nationally with three game winning goals.
  • Radford's defense is one of the best in the conference, leading the way with a 0.70 goals against average, while ranking 25th in the country.
  • Aitor Pouseu Blanco holds a .840 save percentage, ranking 20th nationally.
  • The Highlanders are 2-0 against teams from the Carolinas on Saturdays.
 
SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
  • Record: 1-4-1
  • Coastal Carolina has played one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country, posting a 0-4-0 record on the road.
  • The Highlanders will be the third ranked opponent the Chanticleers have faced on the road.
  • Of the four losses, two have been 2-1 results and the other two have been 1-0 decisions.
  • The Chanticleers lone win on the year came in a 1-0 decision over South Carolina on Sept. 9.
  • Coastal Carolina's defense has been strong despite the record, allowing only six goals through 560 minutes.
  • Braulio Linares-Ortiz ranks 12th in the country in goals against average with a .474 clip.
  • The Chanticleers three goals have come from Martin Melchor, Wes White and Robin Bjornholm-Jatta.
  • Opponents have been outshot 92-56 by the Chanticleers.
