RADFORD WELCOMES GWU FOR SENIOR DAY MATINEE



MATCH INFORMATION  
SETTING THE STAGE
  • With only two home regular season matches remaining, Radford plays its final home Saturday match, hosting Gardner-Webb in a must win Big South battle.
  • Owning a 21-13-7 edge in the all-time series, Radford has had the Runnin' Bulldogs number over the last 10 matchups, compiling an 8-1-1 record.
  • In the 10 matches, Radford's offense has outscored Gardner-Webb 23-5.
  • The match will serve as Radford's senior day as they will honor 10 Highlanders.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 6-4-2 (2-1-1 Big South)
  • After having its four-match winning streak and seven-match unbeaten streak snapped, Radford its 0-2-1 in the last three matches, playing two double overtime contests.
  • Last time out, Radford and Charlotte played 108:14, before the 49ers tallied a goal with less than two minutes remaining to hand the Highlanders their second straight loss.
  • The Highlanders return to Cupp Stadium, where they own a 4-1-0 record this season and have only lost two Big South home matches in the last four years.
  • The shutout loss at Charlotte marks only the second time the Highlanders have been held without a goal this season.  
  • Despite offensive struggles in the last three matches, Radford ranks 12th in the country with 25 goals.
  • Averaging 2.08 goals per match, Radford's mark is 16th best in the nation along with its 6.08 points per game.  
  • The Highlander offense is averaging 14.58 shots per game and 6.42 shots on goal, ranking inside the Top 25 nationally in both categories.
  • Conceding only 13 games, Radford ranks 64th with a 1.03 goals against mark.
  • Against Charlotte, Nicolas Mertzokat finished with a career-high eight saves, giving him 38 on the season, which ranks 87th nationally.
  • Mertzokat is one shutout away from moving into a two-way tie for 10th all-time in program history.  
  • Sivert Daehlie had his eight-match scoring streak snapped at Charlotte, Daehlie had scored in every match since Sept. 9.
  • In the loss at Charlotte, three of Daehlie's five shots came on goal.
  • Despite being held scoreless in the last two matches, Kieran Roberts ranks third with 11 goals, while Daehlie ranks sixth with nine goals.
  • Radford is the only school in the country with two players inside the Top 5 in goals scored.
  • Roberts ranks fifth in the country with 22 total points and Daehlie follows in 13th with 21 points.
  • In addition, Roberts leads the country with 5.25 shots per game and 2.75 shots on goal per contest.
  • With 23 total assists, Radford is 18th in the country, while eight different players have assisted on a goal.
  • Evan Szklennik ranks 20th nationally with six assists, while Fraser Colmer and Neil Martorana rank 81st with four assists.
 
SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
  • Record: 5-4-1 (2-1-0 Big South)
  • Playing a majority of its matches on the road, Gardner-Webb holds a 3-3-1 record away from home.
  • The Runnin' Bulldogs had their two-match winning streak snapped with a 5-0 loss at Clemson on Tuesday.
  • In Big South road matchups, Gardner-Webb is 1-1-0 with a win at Presbyterian and a loss at Liberty.
  • Scoring five goals in three different matches, Gardner-Webb holds a 23-19 scoring edge over opponents.
  • They are averaging 2.30 goals per match, which ranks ninth nationally.
  • Gardner-Webb has outscored opposing teams 14-8 in the first half, while opponents hold a slight 10-8 edge in the second 45 minutes.
  • Severin Soerlie and Magnus Moldjord are tied for fifth in the conference with seven goals each.
  • Outside of the duo combing for 52 goals, no other Runnin' Bulldog has attempted more than 10 shots.
  • Soerlie is tied with Jack Hoey for the team lead in assists with three.
  • Responsible for 16 points, Soerlie ranks 26th in the country with 1.60 points per match.
  • Taking 114 shots in 10 matches, Gardner-Webb is averaging 11.4 per match.
  • Between the pipes, Jacob Beyer has tallied 48 saves and yielded 18 goals for a 1.75 goals against average.
  • Beyer is 21st in the nation with 4.8 saves per match.
 
UP NEXT
  • Radford will play its final non-conference match on Oct. 17, traveling to in-state foe No. 10 Virginia for a 7 p.m. Commonwealth battle inside Klöckner Stadium.
  • A season ago, Radford battled then No. 21 Virginia to a 1-1 draw as Kieran Roberts' penalty kick in the 82nd minute gave the Highlanders a 1-0 lead. The Cavaliers would knot the match up as Pablo Aguilar scored four minutes later.
  • The draw with the first in the all-time series as Virginia holds a 11-0-1 edge.
