RADFORD & CHARLOTTE MEET IN 2015 NCAA TOURNAMENT REMATCH

SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford and Charlotte meet in a rematch of the 2015 NCAA Tournament first round match that saw the 49ers break a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 84th minute.
  • Trailing 1-0 after the opening 45 minutes, Jamie Summers knotted the match with a penalty kick in the 60th minute.
  • Charlotte held a 12-6 edge on shots and 3-2 advantage in shots on goal.
  • On the current roster, only six Highlanders played in the tournament game.
  • Charlotte leads the all-time series 5-1-3.  
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 6-3-2 (2-1-1)
  • Radford saw its seven-match unbeaten streak come to an end on Saturday with a 2-1 loss to High Point as the Highlanders dropped their first match since Sept. 3.
  • The Highlanders held a 7-1 shot advantage in the second half, earning six corners, but only managed one goal.
  • After tallying three straight matches of four-plus goals, Radford's offense has been held to one goal in each of the last two matches.
  • Through 11 matches, Radford has only been held to one goal four times.
  • Despite offensive struggles in the last two matches, Radford ranks ninth in the country with 25 goals.
  • Averaging 2.27 goals per match, Radford's mark is 10th best in the nation and its 6.64 points per game ranks 12th.
  • The Highlander offense is averaging 15 shots per game and 6.64 shots on goal, ranking inside the Top 20 nationally in both categories.
  • Radford's defense only allowed its third multi-goal match on the season to High Point, ranking 68th in the country with a 1.05 goals against average.
  • Opponents are only averaging 9.6 shots per contest, while holding opposing teams to under five shots on goal in six matches.
  • Sivert Daehlie extended his scoring streak to eight straight matches with a late second half goal on Saturday. Daehlie has scored in every match since Sept. 9.
  • The goal marked the 27th of Daehlie's career, moving into a two-way tie for ninth all-time in program history. The junior is one goal away from a three-way tie for seventh.
  • Radford is the only school in the country with two players inside the Top 5 in goals scored.
  • Despite being held scoreless in the last two matches, Kieran Roberts ranks third with 11 goals, while Daehlie ranks fifth with nine goals.
  • Roberts ranks fourth in the country with 22 total points and Daehlie follows in 10th with 21 points.
  • In addition, Roberts leads the country with 5.27 shots per game and 2.91 shots on goal per contest.
  • With 23 total assists, Radford is 12th in the country, while eight different players have assisted on a goal.
  • Evan Szklennik ranks 16th nationally with six assists, while Fraser Colmer and Neil Martorana rank 69th with four assists.
  • Colmer collected his 21st career assist against High Point and now ranks two with Szklennik for fifth in program history.
 
SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
  • Record: 3-3-3 (1-1-2)
  • The 49ers are coming off their first loss at home with a 2-1 loss to No. 17 Old Dominion in Conference USA action. Charlotte is 3-1-1 at home this season.
  • Going 0-2-2 in the last four matches, Charlotte's last win came in a 1-0 victory over Jacksonville on Sept. 17.
  • Charlotte ranks just ahead of Radford in shots per game, ranking seventh with 16.0 per contest. The 49ers rank ninth nationally with 7.22 shots on goal per match.
  • Holding a 69-26 edge in corner kicks, Charlotte ranks 13th in the country with 6.56 per match.
  • Of the 49ers 144 shot attempts, 65 have come on goal. Opponents have been held to 63 shots and 28 on goal.
  • With only 11 goals scored in nine matches, six different players have scored, including five with two-goals each.
  • Daniel Bruce leads the team with seven points (two goals, three assists).
  • Teddy Chaouche joins Bruce with three assists, while leading the team with 10 shots on goal.
  • Of the 49ers' 11 goals, all 11 have been assisted on.
  • Opponents have tallied 13 goals against the 49ers, scoring 10 in the second half.
 
UP NEXT
  • After playing its first non-conference match in almost a month, Radford steps back into Big South play, hosting Gardner-Webb on Saturday for a 4 p.m. contest.
  • The match will serve as the Highlanders' last regular season home weekend match and Senior Day.
  • The Highlanders own a 21-13-7 edge in the all-time series, going 8-1-1 in the last 10 matchups, outscoring the Runnin' Bulldogs 23-5 in the 10 contests.
