RADFORD FALLS TO JAMES MADISON IN EXHIBITION MATCH

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team fell, 2-0, to James Madison in the first exhibition match on Thursday evening at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, Va.
The two teams agreed to play three 30-minute periods for the match. Radford took six shots altogether led by Jasmine Casarez, who totaled three shots. Each team only had two shots in the first period, but James Madison took a combined 13 shots in the next two periods compared to Radford's four.
After two scoreless periods, James Madison found the back of the net in the 77th minute when Christine Tack initiated a give and go at the top of the box with Ginger Deel. Tack shot to the lower right side of the goal for the score taking a 1-0 lead. The Dukes scored six minutes later and took a 2-0 lead as Deel scored from eight yards out.
The Highlanders made a push in the last seven minutes, but could not find a goal.

• The Highlanders had 22 players see time in the match, including three different goalkeepers.
• Casarez led the team with three shots, but Nelia Perez and Kat Schoettinger each landed one shot on goal.
• The Highlanders had six total saves, with four coming in the final 30 minutes.
• Katie McCormick led the team with four saves, while Lexi Dean had two.
• James Madison took four corner kicks, to Radford's three.
• Ginger Deel and Sophie Brause combined for 13 shots as Deel had four and Brause had three. The two of them had four shots on goal.
