WOMEN'S SOCCER WELCOMES CHATTANOOGA FOR FRIDAY NIGHT CLASH

SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford will look to move to 3-0 on the season after defeating Howard, 3-0, and USC Upstate, 3-2
  • 2017 marks the first time the Highlanders have gotten through two games undefeated since 2013 when they started 4-0-1
  • The Highlanders are 4-2-0 all-time against the Mocs with the first meeting between the two sides coming on Sept. 28, 1996 and the most recent meeting being Sept. 11, 2016
  • In that meeting last season, Radford suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 2-0-0, 0-0-0 Big South
  • Allyson Giannone and Gabi Paupst were named Big South defender and freshman of the week respectively by the league office on Monday afternoon
  • Teamwork and ball movement have been key on offense with five assists on six goals
  • The Highlanders have been somewhat of a second-half team so far this season with five of six goals coming after halftime
  • Giannone leads the Big South and ranks seventh in the nation with three assists through two games in 2017
  • Nelia Perez has taken on a bigger role in the attack and tallied one goal and one assist in the season opener after having only two goals and one assists in all of 2016
 
SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA
  • Record: 1-0-1, 0-0-0 SoCon
  • The Mocs were picked to finish sixth out of 10 teams in the SoCon preseason coaches' poll
  • Sophomore midfielder Jordan Mueller leads the Mocs with two goals and an assist for five points. She was subsequently named SoCon Player of the Week
  • Chattanooga has been frugal with their shots taken this season, attempting only 16 shots while putting eight on goal. The Highlanders, on the other hand, have taken 37 shots with 14 landing on target
  • UTC goalkeeper Melia Correa ranks in the program's top-10 lists for career saves, goals against average, wins and shutouts

  • Following their showdown with Chattanooga, the Highlanders will have a full week to prepare for their next contest on the road at Wofford on Friday, Sept. 1
  • The Terriers are currently 0-2 after losses to Coastal Carolina and UNC Asheville, but will look to right the ship against Presbyterian this Sunday
