HIGHLANDERS MEET NO. 5 CLEMSON ON SUNDAY



MATCH INFORMATION  
SETTING THE STAGE
  • The two foes have not met since Aug. 29, 2014 as the Tigers collected a 1-0 victory with a goal in the 85th minute.
  • Fraser Colmer, Evan Szklennik and Kieran Roberts are the only Highlanders to have played against the Tigers.
  • The Highlanders are 0-2-1 in the all-time series.
  • In 2016, Radford went 3-2 against foes from the Palmetto State
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 1-0-0
  • Radford opened the 2017 season with statement, collecting a 4-0 win over Wofford on Friday night.
  • The Highlanders held a 13-5 shot advantage, seven coming on frame.
  • Scoring three goals in the first half, Radford only took seven shots.
  • Radford scored only four goals once in 2016, finishing with three goals on two occasions.
  • Leading the way for the Highlanders, Kieran Roberts finished with two goals on seven with five on goal.
  • Roberts collected his second multi-goal game of his career, his first since a three-goal effort at Presbyterian on Sept. 27, 2014.
  • Sivert Daehlie and Jakob Strandsäter were responsible for the other goals.
  • Daehlie has now scored 19 goals in his career, needing only three goals to move into a two-way tie for 10th all-time.
  • Making only his second career start, Nicolas Mertzokat collected his first career win and clean sheet. Mertzokat faced only five shots, collecting two saves.
  • Radford now has 11 clean sheets in the last 21 matches.
 
SCOUTING NO. 5 CLEMSON
  • Record: 1-0-0
  • Clemson also opened its season with shutout, collecting a 1-0 win over Cal State Fullerton.
  • Jason Wright, a transfer from Rutgers, tallied the first goal of the contest in the 18th minute off an assist from Malick Mbaye.  
  • Mbaye added an insurance goal in the 60th minute on a penalty kick.
  • Diego Campos led the Tigers with four shots taken. Harrison Kurtz and Wright followed with two each.
  • The two teams finished tied in shots (13) and corner kicks (5).
  • Goalkeeper Ximo Miralles recorded three saves in the win.
 
UP NEXT
  • Radford's next matchup will come in the month of September as the Highlanders travel to Davidson on the first day of the month for a 7 p.m. contest.
  • The Highlanders won the 2016 meeting 2-0.
  • Davidson leads the all-time series 7-3-2.
