RADFORD HOSTS HOWARD FOR FIRST OF TWO STRAIGHT HOME MATCHES

MATCH INFORMATION
SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford returns to action on Saturday after playing to their first draw of the season at ETSU on Wednesday night. The Highlanders host the winless Howard Bison in the 12th all-time meeting between the two foes.
  • The Highlanders lead the all-time series 7-3-1 dating back to the first meeting on Halloween of 1987.
  • In the last meeting, Radford captured a 3-1 victory after Sivert Daehlie and Daniel O'Keefe tallied goals in the second half of a 1-1 match at halftime.
  • Radford owns a five-match winning streak in the all-time series, dating back to 1995.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 2-2-1
  • Radford picked up its first draw of the 2017 season after ETSU found an equalizer midway through the second half on Wednesday night as both teams locked in a 1-1 defensive battle the rest of the way on a rainy night in the Volunteer State.
  • The draw is the fourth by the Highlanders in the last two seasons.
  • Daehlie provided the Highlander goal in the seventh minute, marking the third time on the season that Radford has struck first.
  • The Daehlie goal came off an Evan Szklennik cross from the far side for the header goal inside the box.
  • Daehlie's third goal on the season gives him 21 career goals. The junior needs only one goal to move into a two-way tie for 10th all-time in program history.
  • Radford has outshot opponents 68-47 on the season, ranking 52nd nationally with 13.60 shots per game.
  • Of the 68 attempts, 26 have come on frame for an average of 5.20 per contest, ranking 84th in the country.
  • Kieran Roberts ranks second in the country with 5.80 shots per game and third with 3.00 shots on goal per game.
  • Roberts leads the team with four goals, ranking 22nd in the nation, while Daehlie's three goals rank 59th.
  • Of Radford's eight goals scored on the year, seven have been assisted on.
  • Six of the eight goals have come in the first half as the Highlander attack strikes early.
  • The Highlander defense has only conceded five goals in the five matches, including one shutout. Opponents have only managed 16 shots on goal.
  • Nicolas Mertzokat has tallied 10 saves, maintaining a .667 save percentage.
  • Through the first five matches, eight different Highlanders have played over 300 minutes as Myles Yorke leads all non-goalkeepers with 463 minutes.

SCOUTING HOWARD
  • Record: 0-6-0
  • The Bison have not won a non-conference game in the last 17 opportunities with their last non-Sun Belt win coming on Sept. 3, 2016.

  • The Dukes hold a slight 5-4-3 advantage in the all-time series.
  • Radford collected a 3-1 victory a season ago over the Dukes as Victor Valls, Jakob Strandsäter and Daehlie scored goals.
