COLMER NAMED CANDIDATE FOR SENIOR CLASS AWARD

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Radford senior defender Fraser Colmer was named Friday among 30 candidates for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate men's soccer. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

A native of Southampton, England, Colmer has started 66 of the 67 games in his career, including 20 in each of his first three seasons. Colmer has accumulated five goals and 19 assists over his career while serving as a mainstay on the Highlander backline, helping Radford to 27 clean sheets over his four-year career. In the classroom, Colmer owns a 3.98 GPA, majoring in business management.

Over his time in a Radford kit, Colmer has been named an All-Big South performer twice, earning all-tournament honors in 2016. After being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team in 2015, Colmer become the third Highlander in program history to be named to the first team during the 2016 season. In addition to his academic achievements, Colmer was named the Big South's Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Colmer also earned NSCAA All-South Region honors in 2016, earning a spot on the third team.

Colmer has led the Highlanders to three straight Big South regular season championships and two straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Radford ended a 16-year drought with its first tournament championship in 2016.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Each of the 60 men's and women's candidates has displayed a strong work ethic in the classroom and on the pitch with 30 having grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher and 12 being returning All-Americans. Outside of academics and athletics, all candidates also have been consistently involved in community service on their campus or in their communities.

Each of the two candidate classes will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2017 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup® championships in December. For more information on all the candidates, visit www.seniorCLASSaward.com.
