MEN'S SOCCER WELCOMES WINTHROP TO CUPP STADIUM ON SENIOR DAY

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's soccer team welcomes Winthrop to Cupp Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the final home game of 2018 which also means its Senior Day!

SERIES HISTORY
Radford owns a record of 34-26-12 in 72 all-time meetings with Winthrop dating back to 1984.

The Highlanders earned a 2-0 victory over the Eagles in 2017 thanks to a multi-goal performance from midfielder Victor Valls. The Barcelona, Spain native scored in the 33^rd minute and the 76^th minute, both off of assists from Sivert Daehlie. Radford dominated with a 28-to-8 shot advantage and 10 corner kicks.

LAST TIME OUT
Radford dropped a 2-1 decision to No. 6 Virginia on Tuesday night. The Cavaliers opened the scoring in the 59^th minute and senior midfielder Gonzalo Rodriguez found an equalizer in the 63^rd minute, but UVA immediately restored its lead in the 64^th minute.

Virginia held a 19-to-11 advantage in shots and an 8-to-1 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Sam Farrell came up big with six saves to keep Radford in it, but the Highlanders' furious comeback bid fell short. Valls received a red card with just seconds remaining in the match so he will be unavailable against Winthrop.

ROBERTS' RECORD WATCH
Redshirt senior forward Kieran Roberts has been steadily climbing the Radford record books for career goals, points and shots.

With three games left in the regular season, he ranks T-7^th in career goals with 30, 10^th in career points with 65 and 6^th in career shots attempted with 186. Across 64 games, he has now surpassed 5,000 minutes played.

FILLING OUT THE SCORESHEET
Through 10 matches this season, only three Highlanders had found the back of the net: Amadou Macky Diop (6), Kieran Roberts (5) and Victor Valls (1).

In the last two matches Radford has doubled that number with Khori Bennett, Dondre' Robinson and Gonzalo Rodriguez all scoring their first goals of the year.

SENIOR DAY
The Radford men's soccer program will recognize nine seniors as part of a pregame ceremony for Senior Day. Those nine seniors include: Michael Walsh, Kieran Roberts, Myles Yorke, Jakob Strandsäter, Khori Bennett, Gonzalo Rodriguez, Benjamin Thiss, Taylor Martin and Nick Mayhugh.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
After being picked to finish sixth in the Big South Preseason Poll, Winthrop has struggled its way to a 3-9 record including a 2-4 clip in conference play. Those two wins came in a 3-0 win over UNC Asheville on Oct. 6 and a 1-0 upset of Campbell just last Saturday.

The Eagles rank fourth in the Big South for assists per game (1.167) and are tied with Radford for sixth in scoring average (1.333). Junior midfielder Leif Leon Estevez Fernandez leads the team with three goals and three assists for nine points on the year while goalkeeping duties have been split pretty evenly between Chandler Gaunce, Aiden McCormick and Jack Pondy.
