WOMEN’S SOCCER TRAVELS TO WINTHROP FOR KEY BIG SOUTH MATCH



RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team will travel to Rock Hill, S.C., for a key Big South contest against Winthrop on Saturday at 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE MATCHUP
Radford and Winthrop have met 16 previous times with the Highlanders holding an 8-5-3 overall record over the Eagles. The Highlanders have won the last two meetings by a combined score of 10-4, 5-2 in each of the previous outings.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
Jasmine Casarez and Jessica Wollmann are inside the top five of the Big South in shots per game. Casarez sits atop the league with 4.5 shots per game, while Wollmann is in third with 3.5. Wollmann leads the team with 17 points (eight goals and one assist) and ranks second in the Big South. Nelia Perez has picked up five assists, which are tied for the most in the conference. Courtenay Kaplan has a 1.40 goals against average and a .786 save percentage, both ranking inside the conference's top five.
 
NATIONAL RECOGNITION
As a team, the Highlanders are 12th in the country averaging 2.5 goals per game and 23rd in points per game averaging 6.9. Individually, Wollmann's team-leading four game-winning goals currently ranks seventh among all individuals in NCAA Soccer. The senior also ranks 12th in the country with 2.6 shots on goal per game, while her eight goals are tied for 34th. Casarez's 4.5 shots per game have her ranked 18th in the country.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Highlanders won a thrilling overtime victory over High Point last Saturday as Lily McLane fired a shot that found the back of the net with 12 second left in the first overtime period. It was McLane's first shot of the season and her second career goal. The golden goal picked up national attention.

ABOUT THE EAGLES
Winthrop suffered a loss Wednesday night on the road at USC Upstate. After holding a one goal edge through most of the first half, the Spartans scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of the contest to take the 4-2 victory. The Eagles are third in the Big South with 21 goals but have allowed the opposition to score 19, which is tied for ninth.
