RADFORD DEFEATS USC UPSTATE; WINS MUSGROVE MILL INTERCOLLEGIATE

CLINTON, S.C. – The Radford men's golf team took home the Musgrove Mill Intercollegiate title on Tuesday, defeating USC Upstate, 3&2, in the championship match at the Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, S.C.

After defeating Presbyterian (3&2) and Appalachian State (4&1) on the opening day of the Musgrove Mill Intercollegiate, the Highlanders went up against USC Upstate in the championship round. The Spartans also defeated Appalachian State (4&1) and Presbyterian (3&2) on the first day of competition.

Peter Gasperini, Ben Ramsey and Hunter Duncan were the deciding factors in the final round. Gasperini and Ramsey defeated their competition with ease as Gasperini won 5&4, while Ramsey won 4&3. Duncan's match-up stayed close through all 18 holes, but he ultimately defeated Reid Bedell, 1UP. Gasperini and Duncan were excellent all weekend, winning every one of their matches at the Musgrove Mill Intercollegiate.

Parker See fell to the Spartans' top golfer in Jordan Warlock, 6&5, while Sun Paripunna defeated Ty Olinger, 5&4.

The Musgrove Mill Intercollegiate marks the third tournament Radford has won in the last three seasons. The Highlanders also topped the leaderboards at the 2017 Wexford Intercollegiate and the 2017 Wofford Invitational.

The Highlanders will have a quick turnaround and travel to Elon, N.C., to compete in the Phoenix Invitational on Monday. The two-day tournament will end on Tuesday.
