WOMEN’S SOCCER SET FOR SEMIFINAL ACTION AGAINST CAMPBELL



RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team heads to Matthews, N.C., to face No. 4 Campbell in a semifinal match at the Matthews Sportsplex on Friday at 4 p.m.

With a win earlier this season, the Highlanders hold an 8-7-1 record over the Fighting Camels.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
Radford enters with a 14-2-1 record. The 14 wins are the most wins since 2015 when it won 15. The Highlanders have outscored their opponents 41-16 and are averaging 2.41 goals per game. Radford ranks first in shots (337), goals (41), assists (34), points (116), goals allowed (16), goals against average (0.86) and shutouts (9). Jasmine Casarez paces the Big South with 96 shots (5.65 per game). She is tied for second in the Big South with 11 goals. Nelia Perez tops the conference with 0.53 assists per game and nine total. Courtenay Kaplan has six shutouts with a 0.90 goals against average - both lead the Big South.
 
NATIONAL RECOGNITION
As a team, the Highlanders are 12th in the country averaging 2.41 goals per game and 18th in points per game averaging just under seven. Radford also ranks ninth in winning percentage and shots on goal per game. Perez ranks 14th in the country in total assists and assists per game. Casarez's team-leading six game-winning goals currently ranks fifth among all individuals in NCAA Soccer. The Big South Attacking Player of the Year also ranks second in the country with 5.65 shots per game.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Radford dominated High Point in quarterfinal action of the Big South Tournament with a 2-0 win. Radford notched 29 shots – 11 on goal – and had goals from seniors, Casarez and Jane Everett. The Highlanders held the Panthers to 11 shots and Kaplan added four saves – all in the second half.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST CAMPBELL
The Highlanders opened Big South play with a 4-0 victory against the Camels. Perez and Jessica Wollmann scored a goal each in the match and Campbell added pair of own goals. All the goals came in the second half.
 
ABOUT CAMPBELL
The Fighting Camels have changed drastically since the first time they met the Highlanders. Since facing Radford, Campbell has posted a 6-3-1 record and finished fourth in the conference standings. Its most recent outcome was a 2-1 win over No. 5 Charleston Southern in the quarterfinals of the Big South Championships. Opponents have outscored the Camels, 26-21, but they have 17 more saves than their opponents. Alexa Genas leads CU with nine goals. She has taken 67 shots and has landed 32 on goal. Rosie O'Neal has a team-leading four assists, while Erin Scott has 76 of Campbell's 87 saves.
 
RECORDS WATCH
With four more shots, Casarez will set the single-season record for shots with 100. The senior is already in second place on the career top 10 with 255 shots. She needs 40 more to tie the career record and 41 to set the career record.
