LACROSSE MAKES MIDWEEK TRIP TO GARDNER-WEBB

SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford hits the road once again for a pair of Big South games, beginning with a midweek contest against the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb
  • The Highlanders, who currently sit at 1-2 in the Big South, have a great opportunity to get back to .500 in conference play
  • The squad will get one of its first chances to play in "primetime" with a 6 p.m. start time, the latest up to this point in the season
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Radford and Gardner-Webb have split the all-time head-to-head series, 1-1
  • After a narrow 13-14 defeat in the program's inaugural season (2016), the Highlanders earned their first ever Big South victory with a 19-12 victory over the Runnin' Bulldogs in 2017
  • In those two games, Emma Rogers and Adrian Rius combined for a total of 17 goals and two assists. Hannah Rosen and Maddie Mashewske combined to make 23 saves in those two games as well
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 4-8, 1-2 Big South
  • Radford will once again look to improve upon its program-best record of 3-2 on the road
  • With 130 goals scored this season, the Highlanders have already scored more than they did in the entire 2016 season
  • The Highlanders only need eight more caused turnovers to set a new single-season program record (Currently have 136, record is 143 in 2017)
  • Freshman attacker Jennifer Shield has really turned it on as of late, scoring eight goals in her last four games including a career-high against Winthrop
  • Junior midfielder Callie Bonnel has tied her single-season career high with 34 goals scored through 12 games this season
  • Junior attacker Adrian Rius continues to be dominant on draw controls, winning 33 in her last four games
  • Sophomore goalie Jenny Davis ranks 17th in the nation with 10.00 saves per game
  • The Highlanders are tied for 12th in the nation with 11.33 caused turnovers per game
  • Radford is also 15th in the nation for ground balls per game with 21.50
 
SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
  • Record: 2-11, 0-3 Big South
  • Gardner-Webb was picked to finish last out of eight teams in the Big South Preseason Poll and did not have any players on the preseason All-Conference team
  • After beginning the season with a 21-11 victory at Wofford, the Runnin' Bulldogs have only won one game in their last 12 games since
  • GWU is still looking for its first victory at home this season after going 0-6 at Spangler Stadium so far
  • Senior attacker Amanda Steinmuller leads their attack with 31 goals and 17 assists for 48 points
  • Freshman midfielder Talen Francis has been excellent in her first collegiate season, tallying 27 goals and 10 assists to go along with 28 ground balls, 31 draw controls and 19 caused turnovers
  • Sophomore goalie Katie Sylvester leads the Big South and is tied for seventh in the nation with 11.00 saves per game
  • As a team, GWU ranks second in the Big South with 10.92 saves per game
  • The Runnin' Bulldogs have posted a .435 shot percentage with a .791 shots on goal percentage, but they are outshot by an average of 23.2-35.2
 
UP NEXT
  • This Saturday, April 14 at Noon, the Highlanders will be in Buies Creek, N.C. to take Campbell at Barker-Lane Stadium
  • The Camels are 6-7 overall with a 2-2 clip in the Big South
