HIGHLANDERS CARRY MOMENTUM INTO WEEKEND SERIES WITH PRESBYTERIAN



RADFORD, Va. – Winners of seven straight, the Radford softball team has gained momentum heading into the weekend series with Presbyterian. The first game is Friday night at 5 p.m., where three players will be honored prior to first pitch. Saturday will feature a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Radford (29-15) returns to the NRV after picking up a doubleheader sweep over Western Carolina on Wednesday in its final regular season midweek tilt.
  • The Highlanders posted a 9-1 record in midweek non-conference games this season.
  • With its current seven game win streak, Radford has scored 61 runs on 75 hits and is batting .373 as a team.
  • Hannah Medlam has a team-high 12 hits and 10 runs scored during the win streak.
  • She currently rides a seven game hit streak, which is the longest of her career.
  • Maggie Rowe is just behind her with 10 hits of her own. Rowe has 14 RBIs and four home runs, which leads the team in the last seven contests.
  • Brianna Mills and Hunter Mundy have three home runs each in the current winning streak, which is the longest of the 2018 season.
  • Abby Morrow is 4-0 with a 0.74 ERA and eight strikeouts in her last four appearances.
  • Kayla Huffman has a team-leading 84 strikeouts this year with 43 of them coming in conference play.
  • Offensively, the Highlanders are tearing it up in Big South games. Ranking third in the Big South batting .300, Radford has accrued 124 hits and scored 80 runs.
  • The Highlanders are looking for win number 30 for the second time in the last three years.
 
SCOUTING PRESBYTERIAN
  • Presbyterian only has three wins on the season, including one conference victory.
  • The wins came against Iona, ETSU – who the Highlanders beat twice this season – and Winthrop.
  • The Blue Hose rank last in the Big South in offense, pitching and fielding.
  • The offense is hitting .208, with 91 runs scored with 222 hits, which ranks last in the Big South.
  • PC has a 5.88 ERA with opponents batting .323 against them. Both of those are last in the conference.
  • The Blue Hose have one player batting over .300 as Macy Hyatt is batting .310 with a team-high 36 hits.
  • Megan Anderson has 17 RBIs, which leads the team with one home run.
  • Camryn Alverson has a team-best 4.03 ERA. She enters with a 2-1 record in 20 appearances.
