MEN’S GOLF HONORED AS GCAA 18BIRDIES ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

NORMAN, Okla. – The Radford men's golf team was honored as a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) 18Birdies All-Academic Team, which was announced on Friday morning.
Radford was one of 222 teams that submitted a 3.0 GPA or higher for the 2017-18 season. To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
"18Birdies is proud of the work these programs have accomplished off the course and to present this year's Team Academic Awards," said 18Birdies' Founder and CEO, Eddy Lui. "We'll continue to support the next generation of golfers as we know they will be the next leading voice to grow the game."
Two-time Big South Men's Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year, Myles Creighton, led the team on the course, as well as in the classroom. The senior is the first men's golfer to win the the conference's most prestigious academic award in consecutive seasons.
NJCAA DII member, South Mountain, posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions with a 3.78 and won the All-Academic National Championship.
The Highlanders were one of four Big South teams to be honored with the award. High Point, Longwood and Presbyterian were the other three. The newest member of the Big South, USC Upstate, was also honored as an 18Birdies All-Academic Team.
It's the second consecutive year the Highlanders will take home the award. The first time Radford won the All-Academic Team Award was in 2017.
