WOMEN’S SOCCER ENDS PRESEASON WITH 5-1 WIN OVER CONCORD

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team played its final exhibition match on Sunday night and came out victorious over Concord by way of a 5-1 final score.

The match kicked off 30 minutes after the original start time with the second lightning delay in as many exhibition matches. Once the match got underway, Concord took an early 1-0 lead.

The Highlanders were poised for a comeback just as they did in the previous exhibition against James Madison. Nicole Ray made that happen scoring a rebound goal in the 18^th minute that tied the match at one.

Minutes before the first half ended Maevyn Jones fired a shot just inside the 18-yard box that snuck past the keeper. Her goal gave Radford a 2-1 advantage.

It was all Radford in the second half, but all three goals came in the 75^th minute or later. Nelia Perez, Helena Gonzalez and Alexeis Kirnos all notched goals and sealed the victory for the Highlanders.

Radford will officially open the 2019 season on Friday night at 7 p.m., when Appalachian State makes a trip to Cupp Stadium.
