HIGHLANDERS HEAD TO IN-STATE CONFERENCE FOE LANCERS

RADFORD, Va. -- Radford heads to Farmville to take on in-state Big South Conference foe Longwood on Tuesday, Jan. 12th at 11 a.m.

A few days ago in game two of the doubleheader, the Highlanders hosted the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. in the Dedmon Center. Radford posted a game high 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead the surge back into the contest against UNC Asheville on Saturday evening. The Highlanders were locked in on both sides of the ball, but the Bulldogs were able to withstand the frenzy, 63-50. At the half, Radford only trailed by three with Tina Lindenfeld leading the way with eight points and four rebounds. The Highlanders put in a lot of work to get to that point, however.

UNC Asheville's Brooke Jordan-Brown tallied a double-double with 10 points and, a game high, 17 rebounds. Nadiria Evans led all scorers in the contest with 26 points. The Bulldogs ended the game with four with 10 or more points.

Lindenfeld and Makaila Wilson led the Highlanders in scoring, combining for 20 points. Lindenfeld added a steal, an assist, and five rebounds in the bout. Wilson was 50 percent from deep through her 21 minutes of play.

Radford bested Longwood twice last season with scores like 68-34 and 81-52. In the last matchup in the Dedmon Center, Walker paced the offense with her 20 points followed by contributions from Sydney Nunley with 17 points, and Makaila Wilson with 13 points. The Highlanders notched 42 points in the paint, 20 points off turnovers, 29 bench points, while shooting 50 percent from the field, 40 percent deep, and almost 70 percent from the charity stripe. Returner Dayna Rouse's 21 points led the Lancers through her 24 minutes. She was also a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line and 7-for-11 from the field. Longwood was held to 31 percent shooting from the floor, seven percent from deep, and 78.6 percent from the charity stripe.

A Radford win would snap a current three-game losing streak and increase the all-time series to 30 wins. A loss would extend Longwood's winning streak to three games and give the Lancers their fifth conference win with only one loss vs. Campbell (L, 55-70).

Jen Falconer is four games away from tying
Jayda Worthy (2014-18) for career games played at 123. Falconer & Johnson continue to climb the career assists ladder, Falconer is eighth at 290 and Johnson is ninth at 286. Sydney Nunley has now solidified herself at No.7 in individual career blocks at 107.

Longwood will be looking to extend their winning streak to three games after back-to-back victories over Charleston Southern and most recently USC Upstate. Their sole Big South loss comes from Campbell back on Jan. 6th 55-70. They've also defeated Gardner-Webb (80-70) and Presbyterian (71-60). Longwood only has two losses at home, with five wins in
Willett Hall so far this season.

The Lancers are off to a 4-1 start not seen for seven years (their first season in the Big South), after the 70-62 surge over the Spartans. Five players scored in double-figures in the game, behind a game-high 16 points from freshman Kyla
McMakin.

Smith became only the NCAA's 12th player to record a triple-double this season and the first in the Big South Conference since March 4, 2014.
