Radford Baseball’s First Pitch Dinner Going Virtual

RADFORD, Va. – Radford head baseball coach Karl Kuhn announced Thursday afternoon that the Highlanders' Second Annual First Pitch Dinner, scheduled for Sunday, January 24 at 7 p.m., will be a virtual event.

The Evening with Radford Baseball, will be live streamed over Zoom from the Sioros Center, Radford baseball's indoor practice facility.

The event, will cost $100 per household will include special guests, tribute to the 2020 Seniors, introduction to the 2021 Radford Highlanders baseball team and the unveiling of the new playing surface at Carter Williams Memorial Stadium.

Special guests for the event include Washington Nationals closer Sean Doolittle, a two-time all-star and 2019 World Series Champion, and Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chris Taylor, a 2020 World Series Champion.

Doolittle, a two-time MLB All-Star, has appeared in over 400 regular season games and 20 postseason games in his MLB career, which has seen him pitch for the Oakland Athletics in addition to his current team, the Nationals.

Taylor, the 2017 NLCS MVP, has played in nearly 600 games in his MLB career between the Seattle Mariners and his current team, the Dodgers, and has played every position except first base, catcher and pitcher.

The first 50 guests that register will be given the opportunity to submit questions as well that will have the opportunity to be asked in a live zoom with both Doolittle and Taylor.

In addition, special musical guest, platinum-selling alternative rock band Sister Hazel will be in attendance.

The band's 1997 signature single "All For You" reached No. 1 on the Billboard US Adult Top 40 and hit No. 11 on the Billboard US Top 100. Sister Hazel has also reached as high as No. 37 on the Billboard Top 100 US Albums, No. 4 on the Billboard Top 100 US Country Albums and No. 3 on the Billboard Top 100 US Indie Albums. The band has had EPs that hit the Billboard Top 100 and have reached as high as No. 2 on the Billboard Top 100 US Indie Albums and No. 9 on the Billboard Top 100 US Country Albums.
