Millirons, Werking, and Wellings Record Strong Times at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – Rachel Millirons, Rachel Werking, and Chloe Wellings kicked off their outdoor seasons Friday afternoon at the Raleigh Relays with all three recording strong times in their outdoor debuts.

"For their first 5k of the season, it was exciting to see each woman put their names on the All-Time list," commented director of track and field Shelli Sayers. "This was a great way to start the outdoor season."

Millirons competed in the first section of the 5k and finished sixth in her section ahead of competitors from Clemson, Charleston Southern, and Tennessee. Her mark of 17:29.41 was good for third-best in program history before Werking ran later in the day and moved her to fourth. Millirons was the first Highlander to break the top-five of the list since 2015.

The freshman Wellings competed against a strong group of competitors in the second section of the 5k and finished with a top-ten time of her own at 18:16.58 which is seventh fastest in program history. Amongst all competitors in the event, Wellings finished ahead of racers from Rhode Island and Clemson.

Werking was the final Highlander to compete, racing in section three of the 5k and posted the best finish for Radford. Werking's 5k time finished at 17:19.06 which is the second fastest 5k time in program history. She beat racers from plenty of strong programs such as Charlotte, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest.

Radford is also currently competing at the Winthrop Adidas Invitational, which will conclude on Saturday.
